The Vail Daily had a strong showing this year at the Colorado Press Association’s annual contest, held over the past weekend at the Brown Palace in Denver. Competing against other daily newspapers in the circulation range of 7,501-15,000, the Daily won 16 CPA awards.

La Tribuna

2006
La Tribuna was named best weekly in the country. La Tribuna, which competed for the first time, also brought back seven awards, including two firsts. La Tribuna, the Tribune’s weekly Spanish-language publication, won the prestigious general excellence award in its circulation category, for non-daily papers with a circulation of 10,000 or more.

The National Newspaper Association contest is open to daily and weekly newspapers and has no limit on circulation.

Newspaper Awards from 2007

Colorado Press Association’s “Best Serious Column Writing” – 2nd place, Kathy Bedell

Service to the First Amendment: This award is given to one newspaper in Colorado annually for its work promoting and defending the First Amendment.

The Post Independent won the award for its work and editorializing efforts to get a murder case file unsealed.

American Legion of Colorado: The Post Independent was given the Medium Market Newspaper Media Award for its work covering American Legion events and subjects.
