Chief Executive Officer

Swift Communications, Inc. has selected P. William (Bill) Toler as the CEO of the company. Bill recently retired from his 29-year career with Procter & Gamble where he most recently served as Vice President of Global Oral Care Profession in P&G’s Global Health & Well Being division. He assumed the role of CEO on September 8, 2009, as well as becoming a member of the Board of Directors of the company on the same date.


Work Background
Graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting
• Served 4 years on active duty in Germany in the US Army as a Field Artillery Officer with Airborne Ranger qualifications
• Joined Procter & Gamble in Dallas-Ft. Worth in 1980. Bill performed a variety of sales and marketing manager roles before serving as vice-president and general manager of P&G’s Pet Care business units in Western Europe & South Africa and Japan/Asia/Australia/Latin America. He led P&G’s Global Oral Care Professional business during the last two years of his 29-year career with Procter & Gamble.
• Directly involved with the purchase and/or assimilation of five of P&G’s largest acquisitions over the past 15 years (Norwich Pharmaceuticals & OTC products, G.D. Searle, Richardson-Vicks, Iams Company and Gillette/Oral-B).
• A key architect of P&G’s worldwide multi-disciplinary team selling approach to customer business development; this approach has been widely adopted by many other industries such as aerospace and computer software/consulting services.
• Experience with privately-owned companies through the P&G acquisition of the Iams Company from the original entrepreneur.


Personal
• Bill and his wife, Melanie, have two children, Courtney and Mark, ages 14 and 12.
• Board of Directors–The Association of Former Students, Texas A&M University; an active member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Association and previously served on the President’s Advisory Council for Vision 2020 strategic planning and the Advisory Board for the Center for Retailing Studies at Texas A&M.
• Bill and his family currently live in the Cincinnati area but Colorado and the Rocky Mountains have been an important part of Bill’s and his family’s lives. Since early childhood, Bill spent several weeks of each summer in central Colorado (Buena Vista), and Melanie and Bill have been homeowners in Summit County since 1989, and of course, long-term loyal readers of the Summit Daily News!
